Pet owners and pet lovers join a weekend full of family friendly entertainment (pets included) at the Reading Pet Expo, the biggest East Coast pet event, located at the Greater Reading Expo Center, 2525 N. 12 St., Reading.
The three-day weekend, March 16-18, begins Friday evening with free admission for children age 12 years and younger between 4-9pm. Saturday’s fun runs from 10am-8pm and Sunday hours are 10am-6pm. Daily admission for Saturday and Sunday is: $12 for adults, $5 for children 4-11 years. Children age 3 and younger are admitted free. A special 3-day pass and admission coupons can be purchased and found online only at readingpetexpo.com.
The Expo features a wide variety of vendors, from pet adoption groups to window installers. If your “best friend” has been exhibiting unusual behavior or perhaps has passed away, an Animal Communicator will be on site to help you reconnect.
The event features a wide array of animals: dogs, cats, rats, a tiger and more. Spend a day in the life of a potbelly pig and discover their personal living quarters at the Piggyvilla Trailer. Perhaps you or another family member prefers a hands-on experience. Visit the petting zoo or hop on a pony for a ride! Other activities include an Alpaca and Goat Show featuring the “fainting” goats, a dog show, a horse arena, a reptile show and a cat show.
The Berks County Kennel Club’s demo arena displays agility and obedience drills, a Frisbee competition, a parade of breeds, a dog costume contest, and much more. If you’re a cat lover, don’t miss champion “Ticas.” Scales more your thing? The Pet Expo offers a reptile show with approximately 100 tables displaying a wide variety of species.
