Speaking of beer… wait, we are speaking about beer this month, right? I’m sure it’s beer month somewhere. I hope you enjoyed the Blushing Belgian recipe I posted earlier this month. I am excited to share another beer-inspired recipe using a local brew from Stoudt’s Brewing.
My massage therapist, Glenna Seelig, is sharing her recipe for Fat Dog Steamed Shrimp. It’s an easy, crowd-pleasing recipe that’s perfect for a hot summer's day.
Glenna was very clear about tips to make this simple recipe work for you. Marinate the shrimp no longer than a few hours and overnight at the most. Steam the shrimp until it’s pink. Follow these rules and you should be golden.
The secret to this tasty dish is an imperial stoudt beer and Stoudt’s had me covered with their Fat Dog. Enjoy this dish in good company!

Fat Dog Steamed Shrimp
Recipe: Glenna Seelig
Yield: 2-4 servings
Ingredients
-
- 1 pound raw shrimp
-
- 1 bottle Stoudt’s Brewery Fat Dog Imperial Stoudt Beer
Preparation
-
- Place the shrimp and beer in a tightly sealed plastic bag. Seal and refrigerate 2-4 hours.
-
- Pour the Fat Dog marinade liquid into a saucepan which will fit a steamer basket. Add enough water to the beer so you have about 2 inches of liquid in the pan. Bring the liquid to a boil; reduce to a simmer. Place the shrimp into the steamer basket and over the simmering beer. Cover and cook until the shrimp are pink.
-
- Serve hot or chilled and enjoy!
