Serving as a homecoming event, the annual parade is a way for the community to say “so-long” to autumn and “welcome” to the winter season. The parade has been deemed the “Largest Fall Extravaganza Parade in the East” and is looking to once again earn that title with this year’s line-up.
In 2015, the King Frost Parade boasted nearly 100 registered groups as part of the event. This year’s crowd should expect even more participants as the Hamburg Jaycees are continuously seeking to grow the parade. (Register your group here!) Spectators will enjoy performances by high school marching bands from Berks and Lehigh counties, U.S. Military bands and precision marching groups, and more. Additionally, appearances from TV personalities, beauty queens, and local businesses are in store. We can’t forget to mention the outstanding floats that will be featured as well as the main attraction – King Frost himself!
To make the parade even more exciting, all participating groups walking in the parade are encouraged to a pick a theme. Winning themes from the 2015 parade included “Spooky Villians,” “Under the Sea,” and “Very Merry Unbirthday.” Cash prizes are awarded to winners in the following categories: Floats, Marching Groups, Masqueraders and Bands.
The rain date for the event is Saturday, Nov. 5 at 7pm. A Halloween event for all ages, make your way to downtown Hamburg on Saturday, Oct. 29 for a traditional celebration that you won’t want to miss!
