Let's talk about gleaning! Wait, what? You've never heard this term before? Britany LaManna stopped by the 2 Weird Hungry Girls podcast to talk about gleaning and her new West Reading noshing destination, Relish.
Brit’s inspiration for canning began with her extreme enthusiasm when shopping at farmer’s markets. She would always come home with a bit more than could be savored and waste was not an option. She began to pickle and can her leftover farm goodies. Today, you can find some of her signature sauces and relishes at Relish on Penn Avenue in West Reading.
If you are down with hot dogs (vegetarian dogs are in the menu!) and locally sourced or gleaned vegetables, a smooth draft latte or kombucha on tap, then Relish must go on your list of places to go. May 20 will be the perfect time to visit as Relish celebrates its grand opening. Grab Dundore & Heister’s dogs hot of the grill, catch some great tunes and enjoy a coffee pour over.
Because Brit is committed to supporting local food producers, you will find recognizable names on her menu. In addition to the podcast, she has shared two recipes with you below. Enjoy!
