GRIRA Restaurant Week
By: Berks County Living, Don't Miss, Berks County Living April 2012

From April 19-29 multiple area restaurants will be participating in Restaurant Week, arranged by GRIRA (the Greater Reading Independent Restaurant Association) to entice new customers to Berks County’s diverse local cuisine scene. Each eatery will have different deals for the week, including special wine selections, lunch specials and meals not offered on the standard menu. Some restaurants will have dinner specials that include an appetizer, entrée, and salad for a flat rate.

Ken Rothenberger, owner of 201 West in Shillington, credits the event with bringing in new business and alerting area diners to new local restaurants. Each restaurant involved is locally owned and operated and uses food from local vendors.

“Restaurant Week is an opportunity to try to get people to come into our restaurants and see what we are all about,” says Rothenberger.

GRIRA’s mission is to bring together local restaurants to increase business and showcase the many types of restaurants in Berks. The county has a wealth of dining options that offer a wider variety of tastes than chain restaurants, says Rothenberger, who argues that any food served during Restaurant Week will beat that of chain restaurants in both taste and price.

Support Restaurant Week from April 19-29

The food served during Restaurant Week will be a sampling of the best the participating restaurants have to offer: all good deals meant to bring diners back for more. The restaurants involved bring a variety of flavors and dishes sure to please even the pickiest of palates.

Restaurant Week is a 10-day dining opportunity; try a restaurant for the first time or take advantage of a great deal at a favorite eatery. Diners are invited to make reservations in advance, as seats tend to fill quickly. Menus for participating restaurants will be posted on the GRIRA website (grira.net) as they become available.
