Berks Connections/Pretrial Services (BCPS) provides individuals with justice system involvement the tools they need to lead stable, productive lives. The agency offers pretrial services and reentry programs focusing on workforce development, job readiness and financial literacy. BCPS also operates the Pardon Project of Berks County and works closely with second chance employers to help clients find gainful employment as they re-enter the community. For many, these programs are their only support system and the first opportunity to get their lives in order.
The impacts of BCPS’s services extend far beyond the individual to improve the lives of their families, employers, neighborhoods and the entire community. In fact, 93 percent of clients who graduate from the R3 (Rebuilding Reentrants and Reading) program, which is our registered pre-apprenticeship in the construction trades, have not been rearrested! Thanks to a committed staff, dedicated volunteers and employers who are willing to provide a second chance, BCPS can lend a hand to people who are facing challenging circumstances while also making our communities safer and helping our economy thrive!
