Don’t you love when you walk into someone’s house and think “oh, it smells so good in here!” I know I do, even in my own home. Scents can almost instantly register a memory and take you back in time. A fresh box of Crayola crayons (one of my favorite smells), takes you right back to the first day of school. Men’s Polo cologne makes me think of my high school boyfriend. Lilies of the Valley immediately makes me think of my mom. It’s her favorite flower.
Well this smell makes you think you were in Williams Sonoma. And you may have the items you need to create the smell in your home already. I have Pinterest to thank for learning about it, myself.
First, fill a small stockpot 2/3 full of water. Add one sliced lemon, a few sprigs of fresh rosemary, and a teaspoon of vanilla. I think it is best to bring the pot to a light boil to get the smells going, then lower to a simmer and let it sit on the stove all day. Keep checking on it as the water will boil off, but you can just keep adding more.
I suggest you get yours going on the stove…invite a few friends or neighbors over… and see if anyone says, “Oh, it smells so good in here.”
