What little boy doesn’t love dinosaurs? Wait…when I was a little girl I was OBSESSED with dinosaurs. I collected them on stamps, collected figurines, read books, did book reports and on and on.
So, to please the little boys and girls and the not-so-little men and women who love those prehistoric creatures, the Reading Public Museum has the PERFECT exhibit running through Sept. 3: Dinosaurs: T-Rex Face-to-Face.
That’s right. It features the mightiest of them all: Mr. Rex. He was at the top of the “want-to-see” list for my son when we visited the exhibit last Sunday, July 22. And you not only see the Big T, but a Triceratops, its nest of eggs and mini-tops, as well of two fierce Velociraptors. And guess what? They see you, too.
You heard me. Each dino is equipped with cameras, sensors and artificial intelligence. As those raptors close in on your left and right, you’ll wonder: do I look or smell like dinner?
And there’s even more fun for the young ones. Children can enjoy a “Dinosaur Dig,” fossil display, computerized trivia game and more.
While grown-ups will surely love the dinos, adults like me will be amazed by the “Toothpick World” exhibit, which runs through Dec. 31.
From NYC greats like St. Patrick’s Cathedral, the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty to the Taj Mahal and the Eiffel Tower, Stan Munro of North Syracuse, NY, crafts famous buildings and landmarks solely from toothpicks and glue.
As a sappy “I love, love,” kinda girl, I was especially touched to hear that Stan’s inspiration comes from the love he has for his wife. To that end, he signs each and every piece he creates with “I Luv Suzi.” Aww.
So make sure to mark a visit to the Reading Public Museum on your calendars. There’s a lot of great stuff going on! For more info visit www.readingpublicmuseum.org.
