
I don’t think grapefruits bring good luck. I didn’t google it to confirm that but there is something charming about a grapefruit cocktail with a hint of rosemary.
It’s said rosemary can be used to treat joint or muscle pain and digestive issues. It may even repel pesky mosquitos and rodents. Most importantly, the scent of rosemary boosts one’s mood and is said to improve the memory. I can attest to the mood boosting scent. It’s my favorite herb. What is yours?

Yields 2 servings
This cocktail can easily substitute a mimosa, any day. Add a splash of Pompelmo or Orange San Pellegrino just before serving if you like a bit of bubbly. Please use a good quality gin or vodka.
Rosemary Syrup Ingredients

- 3/4 cup water

- 3/4 cup granulated sugar

- 4, 4-5 inch fresh rosemary sprigs
Cocktail Ingredients

- 3/4 cup freshly squeezed grapefruit juice

- 2 ounces Rosemary Syrup

- 2 ounces vodka or gin

- 3 dashes bitters

- Fresh rosemary to garnish
Instructions

- Prepare the Rosemary Syrup. In a small saucepan over medium heat simmer the water and sugar until the sugar has melted. Add the rosemary, reduce heat and gently simmer for 8 minutes. Turn the heat off, allow to cool. Strain the rosemary. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

- Combine the grapefruit, syrup, vodka and bitters in a shaker filled with ice. Cover and shake, pour over ice and garnish with a sprig of rosemary.
