Is your linen closet too full? Try these tips to quickly create more room.
Sheets and Towels
-
Bed sheets: keep only two sets per bed (three if you use flannel sheets in winter).
-
Blankets: two per bed are usually plenty.
-
Towels: keep three per person in the home.
-
Donate extra linens and towels to local charities or the animal shelter.
Personal Care and Cleaning Supplies
-
Makeup: Weed out any expired items or items you no longer use (see my previous blog post on this topic).
-
Medicines: Separate any expired or unneeded products. Check with your township or local pharmacy on how to dispose of unneeded medicines. Please do not dump them down the drain or flush them down the toilet!
-
Cleaning supplies: A small number of products is usually enough, including disinfecting surface and glass cleaner, non-scratch scouring pad or powder, and sponges or paper towels.
Storage Recommendations
-
Place a folded sheet set inside a pillowcase.
-
Bins with lids can hold bulky items such as blankets on the closet floor.
-
Try small open bins to hold first aid supplies, cough and cold medicines, and personal care products.
-
Hang a multi-pocket shoe holder on the back of the door and use the pockets for extra personal care or cleaning products.
