Join the Friends of the Daniel Boone Homestead (FDBH) for the largest colonial living history event in Berks County since 2008, featuring more than 150 participants.
Visitors will be immersed in 18th century camp and home life. They will witness firsthand the colonial hardships both on and off the battlefield. In the parade field, visitors can tour military camps and learn about the weaponry used during the American Revolution. Each day will feature two battle re-enactments: a small tactical at 10:30am and the grand battle re-enactment at 2pm. Throughout the day, attendees will also have the opportunity to shop in an 18th century marketplace, featuring authentic colonial vendors. They will also learn about medicine during the American Revolution as they tour an 18th century field hospital.
In the historic area, individuals can enjoy living history presentations and tours of the Boone House and Bertolet Log House. Watch the blacksmith make ironwork used in the military and on the home front. Visitors can observe the town’s gunsmith hard at work producing the arms necessary for the American Revolution. See interpreters processing flax and wool to make clothing. Children can try their hand at colonial toys and participate in the militia muster, where they will march with wooden dummy guns and learn some of the techniques used by armies on the battlefield.
