Make Time for Tea

Make Time for Tea

Why settle for a quick cup of coffee when you can step back in time and share a private English High Tea with five of your closest friends and family at The GGS Hat and Gloves Tea Room in Mohnton?

Five years ago, owner Geri Segarra discovered that high tea is a “beautiful way to celebrate family” while visiting a tea room with her family. She was inspired to open a tea room of her own showcasing her family heirlooms, recipes and fine china, but more importantly to share the love her family has always shared with her.

Home is Where Your Story Begins

And Geri wants to hear your story. From booking the event to the souvenir photo received after your tea time, she personalizes each tea party to ensure the best possible experience. The tea room only accommodates one party at a time, guaranteeing special attention to you and your guests. Geri will take the time to get to know you and to understand your event so she can cater the experience to meet your needs.

GGS is nestled on Sundown Farm, 72 acres of picturesque countryside. On arrival, you are greeted by stunning landscaping, soft music and a warm welcome, and are escorted into the tea room and back in time. The walls are lined with family photos and artwork passed down through generations of Geri’s family and date back to Victorian Europe, perfectly setting the stage for an old-fashioned English High Tea. You and your guests are invited to select a hat and gloves and to pose for pictures before being seated at an elegantly prepared table where Geri will serve English-style, from the head of the table. Throughout the tea time, she shares the story of The GGS Hat and Gloves Tea Room, a history of the artwork and some tea time tips for first timers.

More Tea Please!

The High Tea consists of five seasonal courses of the freshest local organic fare. All of the food is prepared by Geri or by other local businesswomen specifically for you. You will enjoy Geri’s homemade scones with a variety of fresh curds and jams, a selection of savory items, vibrant fruit salads, and finally an assortment of locally made cupcakes, cookies and chocolates. The meal is complemented by an endless pot of the Queen’s tea, a wonderfully fresh blend that is sure to please.

Guests are encouraged to take their time to enjoy tea and conversation, and to escape busy schedules to really connect with friends and loved ones. After tea you are invited to peruse the Tea Time Trinkets Gift Shop, where the Queen’s tea, scone mixes and fresh jams as well as tea time gifts are available for purchase. Geri will send you home with fresh flowers and fond memories.

The GGS Hat and Gloves Tea Room is the perfect venue for all occasions. Tea time gives you the opportunity to take a break from your busy life, even if just for a moment, to experience local delicacies and great company.
