Celebrating Cinnamon

Cinnamon — warm and cozy, spicy and tangy — this welcoming scent is synonymous with autumn. Made from the inner bark of trees, it evokes memories of delicious treats fresh from the oven and spending the day at home relaxing with friends. Experience the joy as cinnamon takes the starring role in these five picks.

1 | On a Roll.

Take a bite of heavenly deliciousness. Get a sweet start to your morning with warm, fresh-baked cinnamon rolls. Enjoy your roll plain, topped with creamy icing, or fruit-topped and fruit-rolled. Or choose the cinnamon roll’s caramel- drizzled cousin, the sticky bun, plain or topped with raisins or pecans. Cinnamon rolls, plain and sticky: $2.50, iced, fruit-topped and fruit- rolled: $3, Bunny’s Bakery, Shillington Farmers Market, 10 S. Summit Avenue, Shillington, 610.698.2660.

2 | Crafty Creations.

Get festive for fall. These cinnamon-scented pinecones will make your home smell amazing. Arrange them in your favorite handcrafted basket or bowl and make a centerpiece for your table. Include these natural beauties on your mantle individually or strung together as a garland and get energized for the upcoming holiday season. Cinnamon-scented pinecones, $6.99, JOANN Fabric and Craft, 1075 Woodland Rd., Wyomissing, 610.376.4064. joann.com

3 | Lather Up.

Recharge and refresh by taking a leisurely bath. Treat yourself to an invigorating blend of cinnamon, sweet orange and spearmint. Made of natural plant-based ingredients and handcrafted by Betula’s Botanica, calming swirls of color decorate this artisan soap. Breathe in the spicy scents and wash away the cares of the day. Cinnamon, Sweet Orange & Spearmint Artisan soap, $6.95, Betula’s Botanica, 412 Penn Avenue, West Reading, 484.516.2321. betulasbotanica.com

4 | Scent-sational.

As the days get shorter, give your home a warm, cozy vibe with this cinnamon-scented candle. According to some research, the smell of cinnamon may boost memory and attention span. Made of natural soy, this hand-poured candle provides a longer-lasting and cleaner burn and is made from sustainable sources. Hot Tamales candle, $14, The Mint Leaf, 1008 Stinson Drive, Leesport, 610.615.5134. facebook.com/TheMintLeafLLC

5 | Tea Time.

Treat yourself to an afternoon pick-me-up with a warm cup of tea. Chai is the ultimate way to showcase spices in tea. This black tea blends cinnamon along with ginger root, allspice, clove and cardamom for tantalizing flavors and aromas of spicy and sweet. Bonus: it's said to help improve digestion! Enjoy a fresh-brewed cup and let the ideas flow. Stash Chai Spice Tea, $4.69, Blue Mountain Herbals, 308 State St., Hamburg, 610.562.4403.
