6 Sensational Cheesesteaks Found in Berks

From authentic Philadelphia-style to vegan, Berks County has a cheesesteak for everyone. Every cheesesteak has a story, whether it was born from a love for cooking, or it traveled to the top of Mt. Everest. Give these a try…

1. Spenny's Steaks & Shakes.

Spenny’s brings authentic Philadelphia-style cheesesteaks to Berks. With more than 14 types of cheesesteaks, Spenny’s shows its love for customers and The City of Brotherly Love in each cheesesteak prepared. If you like spice, try the Hurts So Good, featuring American cheese, crushed red pepper spread and chopped long hots. Visit spennyssteaks.com to see the full menu.

2. Tony’s of West Reading.

At the age of 14, Tony Lavigna began his culinary journey. Tony’s mission is to bring quality Italian street food to his local community. Try Tony’s Original Cheesesteak featuring shaved ribeye, sweet Vidalia onions and signature white American cheese sauce by visiting Tony’s in West Reading, or to see the full menu, visit tonysofwestreading.com.

3. Big Bertha’s at Sittler Golf.

After spending some time at the driving range or miniature golf course, attempt to tackle a 17-inch Big Bertha sized cheesesteak. You can even go supreme and add pepperoni, bacon, mushrooms and sauce. We hope you worked up an appetite. Visit Big Bertha’s Grill at Sittler Golf or check them out at @Big_Berthas_Grill on Instagram.

4. Esterly’s Pizza and Sandwiches.

From Mt. Kilimanjaro to Mt. Everest, Esterly’s famous non-greasy cheesesteak, The Craze, has traveled to all 50 states and across the globe. To read more about the global travels of The Craze visit new.esterlys.com/newstories.html or to try the cheesesteak that traveled the world visit Esterly’s in Bowers.

5. Cousin’s Pub & Co.

If chicken is more your thing, Cousin’s Pub’s chicken cheesesteak has got you covered – you can even get it as a wrap or as a grinder. It’s a favorite of our Editor-in-Chief, Nikki M. Murry. Pick it up in Shoemakersville or see their full menu by visiting cousinspubco.com.

6. HIVE.

Vegan or vegetarian? No worries at HIVE. Stop in to the Kutztown spot on Fridays or Saturdays to try their very own house-made veggie cheesesteak served on an NYC steak roll. Visit hivelocalfood.com to see their full menu of farm-to-table options.
