How they met: Adonis (currently a Graduate Assistant of Community Outreach at Alvernia University’s O’Pake Institute) and Nicole (a Speech-Language Pathologist) met through a mutual friend at the time in sixth grade after Adonis saw a picture of Nicole on their friend’s top five friends during the MySpace days (16 years ago). After months of texting and running up cellphone “minutes,” Adonis held a Hawaiian-themed Youth Group event at his church to meet Nicole in person for the first time on May 30, 2006. Coincidentally, both Adonis and Nicole’s grandmothers were best friends. They ate breakfast every morning before working at the Bachman pretzel factory; it was a love story destined to be.
Tell us about the proposal! In April of 2021 Adonis unfortunately tore his Achilles tendon and the thought of a wedding was not top-of-mind at the time – at least not for Nicole. On May 2, 2021, Adonis encouraged Nicole to have a girl’s day since she had been busy making sure he was well taken care of along with all the house chores. Nicole left for the day and came back to their house beautifully decorated, an assortment of desserts, champagne, and to top it off, a harpist and her harp from 1942 sitting in the middle of their kitchen playing music. Says Nicole, “I was AMAZED simply because he got me, and he got me GOOD!” To the right was Adonis bent on one knee!

The Big Day
The Reading couple enjoyed a destination wedding in Jamaica with 100 guests in attendance (a record), including their parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends from elementary school to their college years, and many more loved ones. Also in attendance were two couples that the pair had met in Jamaica three years ago on Nicole’s 25th birthday trip that they kept in communication with up until their Big Day. The Flemings had an all-white welcome party the night before the wedding and a ceremony and reception on the beach the day of that included a saxophone player. The cocktail hour was by the Italian jacuzzi area at the resort with a steel band and sangria bar. Following the reception, the couple had two fire dancers cap off the night.
The Honeymoon: The first part of their honeymoon was spent in Jamaica at Sandals Southcoast and after their wedding guests departed, the newlyweds traveled to Tulum, Mexico.
Future Plans: Says Nicole, “We plan to continue to grow together as one with God at the forefront, grow in our house with our new 3-month-old Havapoo fur puppy, Cooper, to save for the future, to continue to travel around the world, and to one day have children.”
