Last week the tides were turning against the Brains. It was becoming an unfortunate, but not necessarily fatal, situation for Reading native Debbie Wanner. The former Beauty and Brawn tribes had been plotting to target Debbie’s alliance members when Neal was suddenly medically evacuated from the game.
With Neal and the threat of his hidden immunity idol gone, Debbie found herself trapped in the crosshairs.
The dominate alliance, Scott and Jason of the Brawn tribe want Debbie gone. Well, actually, it doesn’t matter if it’s Debbie or Aubry. But a former Brains tribe member has to go, and it has to be a woman. They decide while speaking with Nick, a former Beauty team member. After a head count, Jason notes the close gender numbers: five women versus six men. If they vote out Joe this week those numbers would become tied.
Ironically, the idea of an all-girls alliance had never occurred to the women. Debbie has repeatedly mentioned on the show that she would like to see a woman win this game. However, even she didn’t appear eager to split from her former tribe after the merge. She’s told BCL, “The devils you know are better than the ones you don’t.”
Ironically, by fearing a women’s alliance the men created a women’s alliance. Their plan falls apart when Cydney, also Brawn, catches on to their paranoia. She confronts Jason and he gives her a half-truth. He says Nick is worried about an all-girl alliance. Although he says he trust Cydney, he asks that she cast her vote for Debbie.
Understandably, Cydney believes this is actually an accusation against herself. She’s been in an alliance with Jason and Scott from the start, but it’s an individual game now. Each day the men appear to become closer to each other than they are to her. Now, they’re plotting without her too. She was not creating a women’s alliance but, now that they suggested it, it’s not the worst idea.
Still, Jason and Scott’s plan appears to be set in stone. Four votes are pinned on Debbie and three on her alliance member Aubry. Debbie would be sent home. The men are confident - especially Nick, who is excited to go to his first tribal council. He openly tells Aubry the plan, and admits to being arrogant about things going his way.
For Cydney, this is the last straw. Behind her alliance’s back, she speaks with Debbie and Aubry. She asks them to vote for Nick, and then approaches the two other women from Beauty. The women form exactly what the men had feared and Debbie’s vote, once again, is cast on a person who is shouting their strategic prowess.
Tune in this week to see the fallout of Cydney’s betrayal. How will Jason and Scott react to the blindside? Will they continue to target Debbie? Find out April 12 at 8pm on CBS.
