Lavender Lemonade Sangria
(Serves 4-8)
Tools needed
- Large pitcher
- Saucepan
- Strainer
Ingredients
- 1 bottle of light white wine (Folino Estate Riesling is recommended!)
- 1 cup of water
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1 Tbsp fresh or dried culinary lavender flowers
- 3 & 1/4 cups lemonade
- Lemon and fresh lavender for garnish if desired
Instructions
- Begin by combining the water, sugar and lavender in a saucepan to make your lavender simple syrup. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally to dissolve the sugar. Turn down to a simmer for approximately 10 minutes or until syrup begins to thicken. Remove from heat and allow to cool.
- Once cooled, strain the lavender flowers from the syrup.
- Pour the wine and lemonade into a pitcher. Add 4 ounces (or more if you desire a stronger lavender flavor) of the cooled simple syrup and stir to combine.
- To make a lavender sugar rim, combine some sugar and lavender flowers, dip the rim of your glass into some simple syrup and rim with the sugar mixture.
- Garnish with lemons and a fresh lavender sprig, if desired, and serve over ice. This can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for 2-3 days. Leftover simple syrup can also be stored in the refrigerator for 3 weeks. Enjoy!
Tip: If you'd like the sangria to have a purple hue without adding food coloring, include some blueberries when making your simple syrup to give it color!

Pair it With…
Riesling itself is a very versatile food wine, and by adding the lemonade, it would be delicious with a chicken piccata or fish dish. It would also be perfect for a dessert like Lemon Meringue Pie.
