Alvernia University has been serving those seeking higher education in Berks County for 65 years. President Glynis A. Fitzgerald, Ph.D., joined the administration at Alvernia as Senior Vice President and Provost in 2019. With education always as her passion, she began her career teaching communication at Central Connecticut State University. Wanting to help further shape the academic experience for her students, she advanced through various positions in educational administration until arriving here in Berks County.
Alvernia offers a unique blend of rigorous liberal arts core education, strong technical training in many high demand majors, experiential learning through study abroad and internship experiences and engagement with the community through a Franciscan-based community service model. With more than 50 undergraduate majors and minors and 30+ accelerated bachelor and graduate programs in arts, business, education, engineering, healthcare, science, social sciences and more, there is something for everyone at Alvernia University.
