HealthSouth Reading Rehabilitation Hospital provides an acute rehab level of care for patients that have experienced an event such as a stroke, brain injury, hip fracture, motor vehicle accident, fall, or major surgery. HealthSouth Reading Rehabilitation Hospital is accredited by The Joint Commission and has received the Gold Seal of Approval for our programs in Stroke Rehabilitation, Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation, Brain Injury Rehabilitation, Amputee Rehabilitation, and Parkinson’s Disease Rehabilitation.
If you or a loved one needs rehabilitation after an acute event, please educate yourself on the differences between a rehab hospital and a nursing home level of care. Rehab hospitals such as HealthSouth Reading Rehabilitation Hospital have a shorter length of stay and a higher percentage of patients that are discharged home. All patients receive a minimum of three hours of therapy daily, and all patients are seen by a rehabilitation physician a minimum of three times each week. In addition, every patient’s care is closely monitored by an interdisciplinary team of physicians, therapists, rehab nurses and case managers.
Amy Teal joined the team at HealthSouth Reading Rehabilitation Hospital in August 2015, after serving for several years in various roles in healthcare settings. She earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting from York College of PA and started her career with a behavioral health provider. Over the years, she continued to grow her career in various aspects of healthcare, from a skilled nursing facility to a residential treatment facility, and earned her master’s degree in business administration, also at York College of PA. Amy’s leadership style and success have been influenced over the years by several past managers, many of them women leaders themselves. Her passion for taking care of those in need is what drives her to lead the HealthSouth team to deliver a higher level of care.
