Heather Clark, owner of Go Fish! Seafood in West Reading, started her business as a small stand in the Fairgrounds Farmers Market. Growth and customer demand led to expansion in 2008, adding a storefront on Penn Avenue featuring a fresh sustainable seafood market and an intimate sushi bar and dining café.
She honed her skills under Ed Stauffer as the Market Manager at Stauffer’s Seafood. When Ed retired, Heather set off on her own to continue a rich tradition of providing the highest quality sustainable seafood in Berks and beyond. Professionally, things have remained constant, but personally, Heather has experienced exciting change.
Heather became a mom to an amazing little boy, Oliver, in 2015. “Being a new mom, it’s even more important to me to help my son’s future by sourcing from sustainable fisheries and artisan fisherman,” she asserts. In fact, the salmon comes from Loch Duart in Scotland where they have bred a unique salmon from the oldest broodstock of wild salmon. They are fed by hand so the fish grow more slowly, developing a better taste (think rich and buttery) and lower fat level. Don’t be surprised if you see Oliver sitting at the sushi bar devouring a salmon roll or entree. Heather says, “He has become a real salmon snob and won’t eat any other.” Swing on in and see what “Boat to Table” living is all about! #wespeakfish
