A Berks native, Dr. Hartman completed his undergraduate studies at Muhlenberg College. After graduating magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in biology and chemistry, his interest in medicine drew him to Johnson & Johnson, where he worked as a chemist. Spending time shadowing both physicians and dentists in their daily routines, Dr. Hartman realized orthodontics was the positive and rewarding career he was looking for.
He received a D.M.D., summa cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in Philadelphia. He also completed a one-year general dentistry residency at Lehigh Valley Hospital, where he now teaches. A three-year span specializing in orthodontics at Columbia University, consistently known to be one of the best orthodontic programs in the country, followed. From NYC back to Berks, Dr. Hartman set out to design a state-of-the-art orthodontics practice that would provide a safe, comfortable and fun environment.
Dr. Hartman is the recipient of numerous prestigious awards, including being named “Best Orthodontist in Schuylkill County” by the Republican Herald and its readers, “Best Orthodontist in the Lehigh Valley” by Morning Call readers for five years running, as well as “Best Patient Care in the Lehigh Valley”; he’s been peer-nominated as a “Select Dentist” in Berks County Living and Lehigh Valley Style magazines. The “Top 40 Dentists Under 40 in the U.S.” recipient as designated by Incisal Edge magazine, he has also been featured on the cover of Orthodontic Products magazine, which nominated him as “One of America’s Best Orthodontists.”
