If you saw the feature in our June 2015 issue on Barry “The Hatchet” Vagnoni’s Eagles Locker Room, and you read Barry’s game preview blog on our blog page, you know it’s quite something. After all, not every fan creates a 2,000-square-foot shrine to his or her favorite sports team and welcomes fellow fans each game day to root, root, root for the team.
After publisher Robyn L. Jones and I visited the now nationally-known Locker Room in Exeter Township this past Sunday for the Eagles vs. Steelers game (and what a game it was!), we can tell you – seeing is believing.
We once heard that there’s really nowhere else to watch an Eagles game. And we’ve, of course, seen the photos taken by our very own photographer, John A. Secoges. But the Locker Room is meant to be experienced, and last Sunday, there had to have been at least 60 others we experienced it with.
Barry has his schedule and host duties down to a science – complete with theme music, dance breaks with “Locker Room Dancers” each commercial break and a costume change for each quarter. And when the Eagles score a touchdown? Forget about it! The celebration is contagious!
And if you ever get the chance to visit, go hungry, but bring a little something to share with others. Being Italian, there’s quite the spread for all to enjoy. Pizza, hot dogs, wings, veggies, snacks, desserts – you name it! There’s also a bar offering up beer, soda and water: complete with bartenders.
Want to head outside for a breath of fresh air or need to use the restroom? Don’t worry, you won’t miss a thing. TVs and the sound system broadcast the game anywhere and everywhere on property. And in the bathroom, you can’t help but chuckle when you see where the Dallas Cowboys helmet is purposely placed.
Perhaps the best part of all for this mom: it’s family friendly! Folks of all ages are gathered for one purpose: to have fun and chant: E.A.G.L.E.S!!!
Thanks so much to “The Hatchet” and his lovely wife, Dawn, for welcoming us. We loved it!
