Do you struggle to get out the door in good time in the mornings? These tips will help you start your day with everything under control.
Feed Me
- Have healthy breakfast options ready and available so that people can help themselves. Yogurt, quick oatmeal cups, and nutritious cold cereals are all good options.
- Pack bagged lunches the night before. I suggest the reusable sandwich and snack plastic food containers (by Glad or Rubbermaid) and insulated lunch bags with a freezer brick. Older children can make their own lunches ahead of time.
- Grocery shop on weekends for several day’s worth of food at a time.
Dressed and Ready To Go
- Kids and adults can choose clothes the night before and hang them up ready to go. Hang the day’s wardrobe on a coat hook on the closet or bedroom door.
- Check a day ahead to see if clothing needs to be laundered or ironed.
- Purge your wardrobe of clothes that don’t fit, that you haven’t worn in months or that don’t make you feel great.
- Keep only your good-quality clothes that fit well.
Ready for Work and School
- The night before, pre-fill sports bags, school backpacks and your work briefcase.
- Each afternoon, ask your children to give you all homework to be signed and permission slips. Put them in a durable designated folder in your mail handling action center to go to school and return home each day.
- Each evening, check your child’s homework and school project deadlines. Purchase or collect needed supplies ahead of time.
- Charge your phone and other mobile devices.
