Father Knows Best

Father Knows Best

Father does know best. And three deserving Berks County dads were able to enjoy a bit of pampering that doesn’t necessarily come naturally to a man!  With some primping at Lords and Ladies Salon and Medi-Spa fashionable fittings from local retailers, these dads were allowed to take a break from their fatherly duties to enjoy some special treatment. But who was REALLY to thank? The women and families who love them and know that not only do they know best, but they definitely deserve the best, too, of course!

TJ HUCKLEBERRY

30, Sinking Spring (above)

Choosing a plaid shirt with brighter colors is a great way to incorporate bold hues without going overboard.  Most men prefer a subtle pop of color and this classic button-down is the perfect infusion of summer shades.  Styled in a more up-to-date fashion, the casual rolled sleeves of this shirt pair well with the relaxed cargo shorts. Instead of running shoes or regular sneakers, men should try a pair of clean-cut canvas tennis shoes – an All-American look for any All-American Dad.

WHY TJ’S WIFE, SARA, NOMINATED HIM:

“TJ feared a lack of sleep when we were expecting, but he takes amazing care of our 9-month-old son, Connor. He’s up at all hours of the night and feeds Connor, changes
his diapers, washes bottles, reads to him, makes plenty of time for snuggling, and never complains. Connor is blessed to have the best dad!” TJ is the father of Connor, 9 months. TJ received a European facial by Erin Healey, a manicure and pedicure by Ashley Carroll and a haircut and color by Kim Butcher, all from Lords and Ladies Salon and Medi-Spa.

TJ is wearing a Nautica plaid long sleeve button-down shirt, $29.99; Nautica white cotton tee, $9.99; Nautica true khaki cargo shorts, $24.99; Nautica reversible leather belt, $14; All from VF Outlet Center, 801 Hill Ave., Wyomissing. 610.378.0408, vfoutlet.com. Merona Ronald khaki tennis shoes, $14.99, from Target.

CHARLES "CHUCK" WETZEL

34, Wyomissing

Even Dad needs to escape the everyday work wear by changing into clothing that is relaxed, laid back and comfy, all the while remaining stylish. Soft woven silks in pronounced prints are warm weather staples for all men. Generous cuts and clean lines make these shirts easy to wear and give men a break from their routine attire. Both they, and their wardrobe, are at ease.

WHY CHARLES’ WIFE, PAMELA, NOMINATED HIM:

“My husband has made so many sacrifices for our family. He gave up his career in criminal justice to take a third-shift position at Deka so that he could watch our children during the day. He let my mom move in with us. He has not watched an entire football game in four years, and he’s also strong-willed and worked to lose 90 pounds this summer in order to get off of blood pressure medication and qualify for life insurance! I really, truly believe no one deserves to be pampered more than Chuck.” Chuck is the father of Gavin, 4, and Gwenyth, 1. Charles received a European facial by Dawn Hartman, a manicure and pedicure by Ashley Carroll and a haircut and color by Kim Butcher, all from Lords and Ladies Salon and Medi-Spa.

Charles is wearing a Tommy Bahama black floral silk shirt, $110; Tommy Bahama flat front khaki curtis pants, $118; Tommy Bahama Anchor’s Away leather flip flops, $99.99; All from Fifty-Fifty Tuxedos/Russo’s Menswear, 4118 Penn Ave., Sinking Spring. 610.670.5050, fiftyfiftytuxedos.com

DON HAAS

48, Reading

When in doubt, dress for the occasion. And why not wear a suit? Being a great father is an honor worthy of a good suit. A sleek, black suit with simple styling and small pinstripes is something that no dad can go wrong with. Add in color through a tie and match it up with an understated shirt in a basic color like gray. Buttoned up and pulled together, it’s a great look for any man.

WHY DON’S WIFE, LEAH, NOMINATED HIM:

“I met my Berks County man when I accidentally knocked on his door thinking I was at the home of a friend I was trying to locate. We were married five months later. This chance meeting provided me with my soul mate and an amazing father for my five children! We were married at Stokesay Castle on 1-1-11 and our beautiful children were able to celebrate the day with us. Don gives us his love every day and deserves a bit of special attention in return.” Don is the father of Eric, 23; Christina, 22; Austin, 22; Lacey, 18; Avery, 16; Lisa, 14, and Lola, 12.

Don received a European facial by Heather Mast, a manicure and pedicure by Lauren Dry and a haircut and color by Alix Kurtz, all from Lords and Ladies Salon and Medi-Spa.

Don is wearing an Adolfo black pinstripe suit, $179.99; Van Heusen gray button-down dress shirt, $45; Reaction By Kenneth Cole madera stripe tie, $55; Cole Haan pinch penny loafer, $168; All from Boscov’s, Berkshire Mall, 1665 State Hill Rd., Wyomissing. 610.779.2000,

In addition to their services at Lords and Ladies, the men were also gifted with Eufora Hero for Men product packages (euforahero.com).  For more information or to schedule an appointment with Lords and Ladies Salon and Medi-Spa, which has a new location opening in Exeter Township, visit lordsandladiessalons.com.
