Cold Coffee Delight

Cold Coffee Delight

This may be the simplest way to make a great cup of coffee! If you have a coffee press it will make it easier, but it’s not impossible without.

The difference between a cold-brewed coffee and an iced coffee is simple. The cold-brewed coffee is steeped overnight in the refrigerator and then strained. It allows the flavors to develop without some of the bitterness that might occur with a hot brew.

Iced coffee is a traditional hot brewed coffee, then cooled. It is often brewed strong so that the addition of ice does not dilute the flavor. Sometimes this is a great way to use leftover coffee. Just refrigerate it for later use.

Cold-Brewed Coffee

Recipe by Phoebe Canakis

Yields 2 servings

To filter the coffee you’ll need a coffee press, fine filter, cheesecloth or a clean tea towel you don’t mind staining.

Use purified or filtered water for the cleanest taste.

Ingredients

    • 2 cups filtered water
    • 5 Tbsp coarsely ground coffee beans

Instructions

    1. Combine and stir water and coffee in a clean-lidded jar. Refrigerate overnight.
    1. Strain the grounds by transferring to a coffee press or pour over your filter of choice. If after pouring over the filter you find it has too many grinds, repeat the pour over.
    1. Serve with cream or sugar. Store unused coffee in the refrigerator.
