Drawing influence from the journey of Diana Ross and the Supremes, Dreamgirls features a predominantly African-American cast with three powerful black females taking stage front and center. Confronting issues of racial and gender barriers, the women powerfully tackle and confront the limitations placed on African-American women in the music industry at the time.
