You know those popular painting parties where attendees enjoy a bit of wine, fellowship and art and come away with an amazing piece they created themselves? Think it’s too good to be true? We’re here to tell you it’s real. And it’s fun! If you do it with Creative Spirit Painting, run by teacher-extraordinaire Bernadette Bresnahan, that is.
Before a staff meeting and following some recent discussion on team building experiences, the Berks County Living staff decided to give the “painting party” a try. About 80 percent of us were nervous going into it, declaring little to no artistic ability.
The nerves where helped somewhat with a delicious packaged meal prepped by our own fabulous hostess and publisher, Robyn Jones, complete with single-serving wines – of course!
If you’re like most of us were, you might not give the painting experience a shot – being apprehensive about your ability and all. But that would be a mistake. Explains Account Exec Angela Duen, “I think the main thing is to relax and enjoy. The first time I went I was nervous and thought I would be horrible. But Bernadette is relaxed and you'll relax too. Anyone can paint and create and you'll be surprised what comes. It becomes a Zen experience. Everyone has an individual experience. There is no right or wrong!”
Encourages Account Exec Sara Woodward, “You can do it! Bernadette is a great teacher and can make an artist out of anyone!”
Want to get in on a class? Call 215.622.3308. Typically parties cost $40 for an 11” x 14” painting lesson and take 2 to 2.5 hours to paint with a break about half-way through. Bernadette teaches the entire class how to paint the same subject step-by-step. Painting parties are usually scheduled Wednesday nights from 6-8:30pm and/or Sundays from 2-4:30pm.
