1. Candy’s Homemade Ice Cream.

This spot on Route 61 in Shoemakersville is well known for its waffle ice cream sandwiches on Tuesdays. As noted in its name, the ice cream is homemade. Also offered is Italian ice, ice cream cakes and much more.

2. The Cherry on Top.

Need ice cream for a private function or to bring to your workplace? Contact Ann Marie Lander, owner of The Cherry on Top dessert truck, serving premium hand-dipped ice cream sundaes. There’s also a permanent location on Shelbourne Road in Exeter Township.

3. The Cone.

Shaped like a literal ice cream cone, this spot along Penn Avenue in Wernersville is known for its classic twistee treats.

4. The Great American Creamery.

Located on Penn Street in Reading across from the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, business owners are eager to serve up what they’re deeming “the best ice cream in America” – Penn State Berkey Creamery ice cream.

5. Herman’s Drive-In.

This tasty spot on W. Weis Street in Topton is one of few to sell Dole whip. Watch their Facebook page for special ice cream flavors of the week in delicious varieties like creamsicle, coffee and chocolate peanut butter.

6. Jenn and Jessie's Ice Cream Parlor.

Head to this spot in Oley and get your favorite flavor served on a homemade waffle cone. For those that can't have ice cream, Italian Ice is also available. Indoor and outdoor seating.

7. The Kwik Shoppe.

Also located on Route 61 in Shoemakersville, this family owned and operated spot serves unique soft serve flavors like Teaberry, Mango and Peach, as well as other seasonal specials. The Shoppe also carries Cho-Chos, a unique malted ice cream served in a Dixie cup with a wooden stick handle.

8. The Nesting Box Market & Creamery.

Head to this find on Snyder Road in Kempton where they churn homemade, artisan ice cream on site from a local Pennsylvania dairy. Custom house flavors include Chocolate-covered Strawberry and Black Forest.

9. Plum Creek Farm Market: The Creamery.

This Bernville spot scoops up some unique flavors, including Apple Pie, Banana, Butterscotch Bomb, Key Lime Cheese Tart and more. Also offered is gelati and Italian Ice and milkshake and Twister creations.

10. Pop’s Malt Shoppe.

This retro Kutztown shoppe is straight out of the 50s, featuring milkshakes, banana splits, specialty sundaes, floats and all things ice cream.

11. Schell’s Dairy Swirl.

Finish a round of mini golf, then head next door to the Temple sweet spot on 5th Street Highway for a Cho-Cho, or a hand-dipped or soft serve cone or sundae. Frozen sweet treats are also available in their freezer section to take home.

This family-owned business in Womelsdorf features not only hand-dipped ice cream, but also raw milk, homemade smoothies, baked goods and famous shoo-fly pies.

15. Way-Har Farms.

At the family-owned Bernville location, they milk the cows, bottle the milk and make homemade ice cream. Their dipping counter features 40 flavors, milkshakes, floats, sundaes and banana splits. Ice cream is also available for take-out.
