In order of weakest to strongest…
Latte. A perfect combination of espresso, steamed milk and a thick layer of foam. Espresso is poured into a cup, (foam is held back) until steamed milk is carefully poured and perfectly incorporated. Finally, a thick layer of foam is slowly added to the top, often decorated with markings looking like a beautiful flower or an adorable animal (so adorable you may think twice about drinking it).
Cappuccino. Equals parts espresso, steamed milk and foam that starts with a spoonful of froth perfectly placed at the bottom of a cup. Espresso is then added to create a foamy consistency from start to finish. It’s the perfect balance of delectable espresso and light and airy foam, so sip slowly and enjoy. It’s slightly stronger than a latte, yet weaker than your next choice.
Flat White. A mixture of flavorful espresso and a very thin flat layer (hence the name) of microfoam milk. That’s it! The process of steaming the milk is what separates this drink from the rest due to the production of tiny bubbles that create a microfoam, giving it a velvety smooth texture throughout. Don’t forget the signature white dot on top.
Macchiato. A single shot of expresso with a small amount of steamed milk spooned right on top. It’s robust and bold with just a touch of milk, so if layers of froth and foam don’t interest you, this is a good choice.
Cold coffee drinkers, this is for you…
Iced Brew vs. Cold Brew: Iced brew is simply regular brewed coffee, cooled down and added to ice. While cold brew coffee is a 24-hour or overnight process of steeping coffee grains in cold water, which extracts the caffeine, oil and sugar to ensure boldly concentrated, smooth coffee. It’s never exposed to heat and is significantly stronger than iced brew, so prepare your taste buds.
