Fashions from local Goodwill stores took center stage at the 6th Annual Goodwill Runway Show this past Thursday, April 23 at the Body Zone Sports and Wellness Complex. Goodwill, a nonprofit, aims to provide education, training and support for those with disabilities and economic hardships. Proceeds from the 41-plus Goodwill Stores and donation centers across Central and Southeast Pennsylvania provide programs and services to enrich community members’ lives.
Each year, various local businesses generously donate their products and services to the runway show event. This year, guests nibbled on mouth-watering appetizers and drinks from local restaurants while browsing silent auction tables.
Of course, though, the highlight of the night is the Re-Design Contest, followed by the fashion show and shopping in the Goodwill Boutique!
The 2015 Re-Design Contest categories were Avant Garde, Accessories, and new this year, Re-purpose the Dress. Once again, the finalists displayed their creativity and talent by transforming pieces purchased at area Goodwill retail stores. Who won? Stay tuned for a closer look at each of the designers and their winning piece in the November issue Berks County Living.
This year the Runway Show was filled with affordable, stylish looks for day, career, casual and evening - proving that great style doesn't have to cost a fortune as all the items came from the rack of Goodwill’s stores. So the next time you're in need of a stylish outfit, check out all the second-hand chic finds at your local Goodwill.
Special thanks to the Goodwill Keystone Area board of directors, committee members, stylists, models and participating restaurants, vendors and sponsors for making the night a huge success.
Happy Shopping!
