Those who know me know that while I detest winter, I love the holidays and especially Christmas shopping. That’s right: for me, the best part of Christmas is the giving, not the getting. I enjoy thinking about those near and dear, what they love and what puts a smile on their face, and the idea of gifting them with something that will show how much I care.
To that end, I’m definitely a planner and start my shopping early each year. I buy when I see something that sparks something inside that says, “Oh! So-and-so would love that!” If you’re looking for the same kind of inspiration, flip to page 26. I hope you’ll find a few items from our gift guide that fit the bill. Even better, you can buy them at local shops, supporting the businesses that are the backbone of our Berks communities. It’s definitely a win-win. Enter to win select holiday gifts here.
Speaking of support, our area nonprofits could always use a hand. Learn more about them in our special section starting on page 34.
If you’re aiming to spruce up your table for the Thanksgiving holiday at the end of the month, we have you covered there, too. On page 40 in our Living In Style feature, writer Andrea Folino shows you how to pull together a fabulous spread to enjoy with your family and those you’ll spend the holiday with. Looking to skip the hosting duties and dine out or pick up a meal instead? We’ve got ideas for you, too! Read over our Dining Out article on page 44.
However you’re choosing to celebrate this year, we at Berks County Living wish you the happiest of holidays!
