While I may not be classified as a “senior,” I do know plenty of them and appreciate the life lessons they impart on me. Especially living the past year-plus in a pandemic, one of the most important things I’ve gleaned from having a parent in a skilled nursing facility is to focus on what I DO have. So often we get bogged down in what we can’t do or what we don’t have, that we take our blessings for granted.
In this month’s Senior Living issue, we hope you’ll find some inspiration starting on page 29 when you meet three Berks residents who relish hobbies that bring them joy. Perhaps food brings you happiness. If so, we have you covered there, too – especially if you’re a pretzel lover. Flip to page 37 for all things pretzel locally. And in our Dining Out feature on page 46 you just may find a hidden gem in Andy Peppers in the Oley area.
With October being in the heart of the fall season, our staff offers up some favorite autumn activities and more on page 11. And in our Living In Style feature on page 42, writer Donna Reed teams up with locally famous haunted tale-teller Charles J. Adams III to tour some spooky spots in Berks.
There’s something fun for every personality and age inside!
