If you love your Berks County barber, chances are they were trained at the American Barber Academy (ABBA). After struggling to find qualified barbers to work at his Shillington barber shop, George Ortiz, Founder and CEO, had a vision. If he couldn’t find them, he was going to build them. And that he did. In 2012, American Barber Academy was founded, and since has graduated hundreds of students that have gone on to become business owners or who are employed at your favorite local barbershop. In 2020, ABA rebranded as American Barber and Beauty Academy and relocated to the former AW Golden dealership on Lancaster Avenue. The campus was transformed into a 10,000-square-foot state-of-the-art education center that also offers Cosmetology and Esthetics programs.
