While many university student life vice presidents complete master or doctoral degrees in education or public affairs, few are licensed to make medical decisions. But having earned a doctorate in nursing practice, Wesner is a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner licensed to provide patient care, including a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services.
So it wasn’t surprising that Wesner gathered a campus-wide team to update health and safety plans as soon as news of COVID-19 broke. After all, she’d been here before, successfully isolating seven students and preventing the spread of H1N1 Swine Flu on campus in 2009.
By the time the U.S. declared a national emergency on March 13, 2020, Albright’s essential personnel had been fit-tested for safety equipment and completed a step-by-step isolation walk-through – from initial testing and isolation through room sanitization, adjustments to technology, dining needs and beyond. And under her leadership, the task force is continuously adjusting to ensure the health, safety and well-being of Albright and its surrounding community, as the coronavirus pandemic evolves across the nation, region and world.
