“If you’ve seen Godspell before, you need to see this performance. Everything about the show is new. The music, costumes and set arrangements are all different from past performances,” Alpha Omega Players founder Mark Drey asserts.
When co-founders Mark Drey and Kerry Eschbach-Drey started Alpha Omega Players in 1978, they kicked off the organization with a production of Godspell. Since then, they have changed the performance each of the 10 times it’s been performed, incorporating current world events, political satire and social media references.
The organization consists of more than 100 actors, stage crew, musicians and artists who are all volunteers. “Godspell is about family, community and loving people, not only about the Bible,” Drey explains. “It appeals to everybody, from adults to children. It’s very funny and profound.”
Join Mark and Kerry for the special 35th year of classic and artistic musical theater, with the 11th performance of Godspell at Alpha Omega Players’ 301 E. 1st St., Birdsboro, venue. Performance dates are April 5,6,12 & 13 at 8pm and April 7 & 14 at 3pm.Tickets are $22 for adults and $15 for children (12 years and younger). For reservations, call 610.404.4844.
