We recently spent a lovely weekend at a farm retreat and picnic gathering. The host’s home was tucked in the woody hills of Schuylkill County. Our host, in a kilt and with a bagpiper playing in the background, closed out the evening with simple and sloppy pours of Irish coffee; it was a long but eventful day!
As it turns out, an Irish Coffee is rather uncomplicated to mix up. It took a bit of experimentation at home to get the ratios correct. I found the taste of brown sugar was more appealing than white sugar and using a very soft peaked whipped cream was better than beaten-to-a-light-foam whipped cream.
I hope you enjoy this warm treat in the company of friends and savor the memory as we did that lively night, north of Berks.
