Looking to make a difference?
United Way of Berks County’s Emerging Leaders United (ELU) are individuals ages 21-45 who have a desire to make our community a better place while expanding their personal growth. ELU members have exclusive access to year-round opportunities, including volunteer activities, personal development opportunities to enhance leadership skills, and social events to network with others in a fun, casual atmosphere.
ELU was established in 2015 and has now grown to include more than 450 members. Last year, a total of 34 opportunities and activities were presented. Volunteer projects have included hosting a Mother’s Day celebration for residents at SafeBerks, helping with painting and landscaping projects at several community nonprofits, and providing a Zumba exercise class for senior citizens. Additionally, ELU members have learned the importance of the “art of negotiation” and how to manage their own personal brand. They also participated in a March Madness social event. Members are looking forward to more activities throughout the year.
