How It Started
Matt (a Private Wealth Advisor at Goldman Sachs) planned a weekend upstate in Tarrytown, NY, starting with dinner at Blue Hill Stone Barns, a sustainable agriculture mecca with amazing farm-to-table food. The waiter took the pair to a private room filled with candles. Half-way through the tasting menu, Matt popped the question to Lily (CEO at Sorrelli Inc., headquartered in Kutztown). He had framed the napkins the couple scribbled on from their first date, and shared that he knew from Day 1 that a proposal was on the horizon. Shares Lily, “It was incredibly sweet. We immediately called our parents to share the good news.”
The Big Day
In attendance were Lily’s parents, Kermit and Lisa Oswald, and Matt’s parents, Dr. Mark and Randi Grand. The Maid of Honor was Lily’s sister, Ivy. Ryan Grand, Matt’s brother, was Best Man. Guests enjoyed eats from non-traditional food trucks run by Pitruco Pizza based in Philadelphia, Gourmand Café of Wyomissing and WOW Wagon from Gilbertsville. The lobster rolls from WOW Wagon were a huge hit, and the Berks Lebanon Bologna sandwich from Gourmand was a local classic. Dessert was a selection of French macarons from Heavenly Macarons of Orwigsburg and a cake from Ady Cakes, West Reading, decorated with pressed flowers that Lisa Oswald collected in the spring. Music was provided by the Troy Curtis Band from On the Move, and the couple’s first dance was to So Into You, a Childish Gambino cover of Tamia. The beautiful décor was by Leo Design Gallery, West Reading.
Looking Back
Matt: What did you first think when you saw your bride on your wedding day? She had morning sickness that day before she left to get ready, so I was honestly worried about how she was feeling!
What would each of you say the highlight of your Big Day was? We announced to all of our friends and family after our ceremony that we are expecting a baby boy in December; our brothers shot off blue confetti canons, and it was pretty magical.
How did you feel the day before your wedding? And the day after? The day before the wedding was stressful! We were prepping a lot because the welcome BBQ was at my [Lily’s] parents' house, so there was a lot to do to set up! The day after was a big relief, after rescheduling our wedding four times, and getting engaged in 2018, we were so happy to be officially done with wedding planning!
What do you remember most looking back at your Big Day? Says Matt, “Dancing! The band was amazing and I loved being on the dance floor with my bride and all of our loved ones.” Lily agrees, saying, “I remember dancing the night away with all of our friends and family.”
How was the Honeymoon? We went to Mykonos in Greece. We had both always wanted to go, and it did not disappoint. We had some amazing meals and relaxing beach time and got to see a part of the world we'd always wanted to explore.
What are your Future Plans? We just bought a house and are currently getting it set up for the newest member of our family, arriving in December!
